Go go gone!
This is not a phrase we usually like to hear in bird protection, but we will certainly make an exception for the upcoming BirdLife auction.
Around this time last year, the COVID-19 pandemic fundamentally changed life as we know it, making many of our usual fundraising drives, including our BirdLife gala dinner, impossible. Instead, BirdLife’s Tokyo, Japan office decided to launch its first internet auction – with resounding success. The virtual nature of this initiative brought unforeseen benefits, reached a far wider global audience than ever, and brought the BirdLife community together around the world.
This year we again invite you to join us anywhere in the world for our 8-day exclusive auction starting on Monday 29th March. From a beautiful framed washi print of a daffodil flycatcher photographed by our Honorary President HIH Princess Takamado to stunning kimonos or fine wines and whiskeys and baccarat crystal to drink, the BirdLife auction has an easy online way to offer ours to support important work.
All proceeds go to the BirdLife International Japan Fund for Science to support our Red List program. Your contribution will help BirdLife cope with the planetary crises we face through our pioneering avian science. This offers an early warning system for information about protection on site as well as national, regional and global measures.
Most auction items can be shipped worldwide, and those that cannot are clearly labeled. The entire hammer price goes to the work of BirdLife, the buyer’s premium goes to the auction house. Further details can be found in the auction’s digital catalog. We look forward to seeing you soon!
