Kitten, reminiscent of the woman’s deceased cat, finds her in a random way

A little kitten found her forever human mother when she needed him most.

Ellen Carozza, a licensed veterinary technician at Nova Cat Clinic, found that her world was turned upside down when faced with devastating news – her best friend, close confidante of nearly seven, Benny the Cat (Benedict Cumbercat ), died on April 2 of Feline Aortic Thromboembolism.

Benny was the fixed point in Ellen’s life, a ray of sunshine and a powerhouse. He helped her with many of the orphans she brought home and printed his signature kisses on each of them.

He was an amazing surrogate father to the kittens and always managed to lift the spirits of those who were most in need.

“Benny came to me in 2014 when I really needed him after a long hiatus where I didn’t have a cat and just left me in a broken body too soon,” Ellen told Love Meow.

“My soul literally died with him that day. Just going home after work every day felt like I had an elephant on my chest as my best buddy was gone.”

True to her passion, Ellen continued to treat cat patients and, despite the loss, helped with the rescue. “I have moments when I’m fine while I’m busy, but as soon as I stop, the depression kicks in. He wasn’t just a cat, he was everything,” wrote Ellen.

“Benny went through several cats with me and I knew he would show up again. I didn’t know exactly when.”

About a month later, through her charitable foundation, the Chris Griffey Memorial Feline Foundation, where she works closely with many rescue, protection and care groups, she received a message about a litter of orphans in need of help.

“The Kitten College of the Arlington Welfare League contacted me about a special group of kittens. When I saw the photo, Benny was present with not just one but five cats,” said Ellen Love Meow.

“From upper respiratory infections to cool personalities to the white tip of a cinnamon kitten’s tail and an all-white kitten with a hint of a sun-kissed mark on the back of its head (Benny’s favorite pastime was sitting in the sun all day). How could you not take it as a coincidence? “

Ellen was excited yet nervous to meet the kittens and worried that she wasn’t ready. But when she had little Benny in her arms, time seemed to slow down as everything felt right.

“When I held Ambrose (the little white kitten) I knew he was mine,” Ellen told Love Meow.

“At around four weeks old, they don’t have a settled personality right away. Like all cats, they need to get used to their new surroundings, food, and handling, but Ambrose was different.”

The tiny ball of fur merged with Ellen when she held it – just as Benny did when she first got it.

There was an instant connection between the two that was reminiscent of Benny. The cute kitten fit perfectly in Ellen’s house as everything he did was so familiar and comforting.

He enjoys lying in the cradle like a baby and being carried around comfortably in Ellen’s bag. He will fall asleep when cared for and was a wonderful bottle baby who ate like a champion.

Nothing makes Ambrose happier than being with his favorite person, now his forever human mother. He fills that cat-shaped hole in her heart with all its purrs and cuddles.

“We have so many new adventures to look forward to.”

“I hope everyone sees that losing a pet is not the end of it. It enables you to open your heart to another pet in need of the love you can provide,” shared Ellen Love Meow.

“I know I definitely needed it myself and Ambrose is there to provide it.”
