Two kittens were found walking the streets together and never leaving each other.

A pair of kittens were spotted in a neighborhood in Montreal, Canada with no mother in sight. The duo searched for food but never wandered far apart. The neighbors noticed they were getting sick and worried about their safety.

Nadia, a local animal rescuer, came across a post online about the two kittens and responded immediately. She set a humane trap in the area and managed to get the couple and two other stray kittens to safety.

Her rescue partner Josie found a temporary place to stay for the kittens before turning to Chaton’s Orphelins Montréal, a local cat rescue service, for help.

Chatons Orphelins Montréal took them into their care and gave them the medical care they needed.

The two brothers Octav and Romus were about 12 weeks old. Both have the same “beauty mark” on their nose and are very close from the start. Even at the vet’s, they were attached to the waist for comfort.

“They were very shy and scared when they arrived. Their hearts were beating out of their chests,” shared Celine Crom of Chatons Orphelins Montréal Love Meow.

“(After a vet visit) they took Marielyne to their foster home and quickly made friends with the local cats. Though a bit shy, the two brothers are gentle and lovable.”

In the first week they learned to adapt to life with people. They were easily startled by quick movements or loud noises and ran towards each other for comfort.

The cat brothers have been inseparable since stepping into their foster home with their paw. Slowly but surely, they come out of their shells and warm up for their foster mother.

“They are very close and always follow one another. They like to sleep in the scratching post during the day. At night they sleep on their foster mother’s bed to be close to them,” said Celine.

Romus, the gray and white cat, is the curious one. Although he’s still a bit shy, he can’t resist the cat toys and all the fun activities around him. Octav the tuxedo is more reserved and quite dependent on his brother. “He watches everything Romus does and then follows his example.”

Romus, the protective brother, makes sure that Octav is always around. They pay attention to each other and stay within sight of each other.

They even pose the same or mirror each other when they take a nap.

The kittens gain more confidence every day and enjoy being in a loving home with comfortable beds, good food, cat toys, and plenty of seating.

Whatever they do, they do it together!

The connected brothers have never been apart since the day they were seen on the street.

You can’t find one without the other.

“They had little to no human contact prior to joining us. They are now enjoying their lives as domestic cats,” said Celine. “You may need more time and understanding, but once you have won their trust, they will be the cutest companions.”

Sunbathing next to each other by the window is one of her favorite pastimes.

After almost two months in care, the two brothers are ready for their new chapter in life.

They are looking for a forever home where they can continue their journey together.
