Kelly Sears is the director of Lucas County Canine Care. In an interview for ABC 13, she said that Baby Girl’s sweet demeanor is remarkable in the face of such tragedy and trauma. She said: “She is a beautiful dog. It’s hard to imagine what she went through, but she was kind to everyone she met including the staff who worked on her while she was in such pain at the emergency clinic. While we’re not sure, the wounds certainly look like she was trying to save her owner from whoever attacked him. She may be able to help investigators find her owner’s killer. They took DNA samples from her while she was receiving emergency veterinary care. She’s had a couple of nightmares. We don’t know if these are the usual doggie nightmares or if they stem from the horror she went through, but we all work to help her heal. “
