Homeless man arrested for beating and throwing innocent dog

Sometimes people are not what you expect. They may seem friendly when you pass them on the street, but you never know what is going on in their life. Unfortunately, animal abusers exist all over the world which is why it is so important for Witnesses to speak up when they see an animal being injured.

Ella Gene is a cute brown female who wants nothing but love and appreciation. But she was part of a recent animal abuse incident in Walton County, Florida. She may not know yet, but her life is getting so much better!

Ella Gen’s story

The Walton County Sheriff’s Office was alerted by witnesses from a dog abused near the road. They explained that the man used his fist like a hammer to hit the dog in the head. Some also said they saw him throw the dog in the air.

When the MPs arrived at the scene, they saw a large brown dog running along the side of the road. The man, later identified as 40-year-old Jonah Kyle Brewer, was chasing the dog on a bicycle. The dog, whose name is Ella Gene, was reportedly scared and injured. When officers approached Brewer, he didn’t even try to explain or defend himself.

MPs confronted Brewer about his actions, but his response was, “I don’t have time for you.” The press release also states that when police said Brewer received a report of his dog being injured, he said, “Tell me who told you so I can beat him up.”

Justice is served

Fortunately, Brewer was arrested and charged with causing pain and suffering to an animal. Ella Gene currently resides at the Walton County Animal Shelter. She cannot be adopted or promoted until the court has made a decision about her fate. Even so, many people have already offered to take it when it becomes adoptable.

As it turned out, a lot of people recognized Brewer too. He was homeless, so he and Ella Gene would often sit outside the local grocery store looking for donations. Many people were shocked to hear that he had hurt his cute dog because he acted so kindly every time they saw him. But now it is clear that this loving dog deserves better.

The Walton County Animal Shelter accepts donations to support Ella Gene’s care and the care of all other animals in her facility. If you are able, please donate to help these animals live better lives. Hopefully Ella Gene will soon be with a friendly, loving family!
