DoorDash driver steals innocent puppies while delivering food

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, delivery has become a common shopping method. Nowadays you can find almost anything online and we trust delivery drivers to safely bring our purchases to us. In rare cases, however, these deliveries do not meet our expectations. And for mother dog Ashley Swinton, a delivery driver not only brought her food, but decided to steal something for it.

A DoorDash driver was caught on camera stealing Swinton’s puppy. The driver dropped the food, picked up the puppy, and ran away. When Swinton noticed that her pup was gone, she couldn’t believe what had happened.

Leave the food, take the puppy

Somebody in Swinton’s household ordered food through DoorDash on New Years Day. Her 8 week old puppy named Bella was in her closed doorway when the food arrived. The DoorDash driver entered the entrance to drop off the food at the door. But then the situation took a dark turn. Fortunately, a surveillance camera on the door captured everything.

“You can see how she strokes the dog, [and] rub the dog and see if [she] was vicious, ”said Swinton. “Then shovel the dog and take the dog to your car.”

Bella only got to Swinton a few days before Christmas. Swinton and her children were overjoyed to have a new furry friend in their family, but on New Year’s Day that Christmas magic disappeared.

So Swinton contacted DoorDash about this incident, but they couldn’t help her. Apparently the driver who dropped the food was not the one who was registered for it. Fortunately, Swinton’s surveillance cameras also recorded the suspect’s license plate as she drove off.

Puppy thief is caught

While DoorDash was of no help in this case, the Warren Police Department was. They tracked the woman down from the video footage and found her from her license plate.

“The video evidence is very compelling on this case,” said Brian Price of Warren Police. “This is new even to me. Quite shocking when you watch the video and see it happen right in front of you. “

When the police confronted the suspect, they did not provide any explanation as to why they did it, but they did admit the crime. Penalties are okay but not decided yet.

Not all officials would have taken the time to focus on such a case, but they know how important a puppy is to their family. Swinton is grateful that this driver cannot harm other families in this way. Hopefully Swinton’s family have also learned to keep an eye on Bella when she’s out of the house. Now sweet little Bella is safe at home and happier than ever.
