Cat showed up at the family door and asked to be let in after years on the street

An orange cat appeared outside a family home asking for help. His life was changed forever.

Jaelle, from Quebec, Canada, was surprised to find a cat in her back yard scratching at the door begging to be let in. She had never seen the cat until that day (Valentine’s Day) last year in the middle of the bitter Canadian winter.

Jaelle, who volunteers for One Cat At a Time, a kitten rescue in Quebec, immediately opened the door for the cute cat. The orange tabby looked rough around the edges. He was cold, hungry, and sick. Jaelle turned to Marie Simard, founder of One Cat At a Time, for help.

“Our rescue specializes in orphan kittens, but he wanted to be rescued at the door and we couldn’t leave him outside,” Marie told Love Meow. “We tried to find the owner, but there was no microchip. He was around 6-7 years old, not neutered and no one was looking for him. Most likely he was abandoned by previous owners a long time ago.”

The cat was taken to the vet and had to be hospitalized for a few days because of numerous health problems. He was covered in fleas, battle wounds, and matted hair. He also tested positive for FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) and had parasites, many dental problems, and upper respiratory infections.

Despite everything, the cute cat was so grateful to finally be cared for. He was very frail but purred continuously while he was treated by the veterinary team, with the full support of one cat at a time.

After shaving the matted fur and getting the right medication, the cute cat was finally able to begin healing.

He was named Aslan after the lion from The Chronicles of Narnia. How he got out on the streets is a mystery, but he picked the perfect family for help that day and won a new life.

After Aslan was released from the hospital, Jaelle took him in for care so that he could continue his recovery in a loving home.

“He’s so nice and loving. He purrs with gratitude and is really happy to be a house cat again,” said Marie.

Sweet Aslan loved the good food and warm beds. He ate to his heart’s content at every meal and rested comfortably to make up for the lost sleep.

“He loves people (and other cats) and is always asking for hugs. It’s clear that this beautiful cat has had a family before.”

During his recovery, a cat named Cleo took Aslan under her wing. She accompanied him after his dental and eye surgery and was always close by, ready to shower him with hugs.

The two really bonded and spent a lot of time together and snuggled away.

Jaelle had no intention of adopting another cat, but knowing how much Cleo and Aslan needed each other, she couldn’t separate them. Aslan quickly crept into the hearts of the family.

Maybe he knew from day one that he should be here.

Aslan recovered and recovered over the next several months. Every day he was surrounded by furry friends as if they were all involved in his recovery.

The cute orange cat is now eight years old and is living the life of his dreams.

He no longer has to fight for food, shelter or brave the bitter cold. He has a big family that loves him to pieces.

Aslan lives like a king with all the luxuries he deserves. He continues to cuddle everyone around him and has no worries in the world.
